Wednesday Intensive Training, 9:00am to 4:pm: The goal of this training is to provide participants with a foundation to examine and understand the Culture of Poverty. The training will use the textbook Bridges out of Poverty by Ruby K. Payne, Philip Devol and Terie Dreussi Smith as basis for discussion. The following topics will be addressed:
- Understand and assessing the cultural resources
- Understanding the hidden rules of three economic cultures including attitude towards possessions, money and time
- Exploring the characteristics of generational poverty that are barriers to success in a middle class setting
- Developing rapport and building relationships
